Infrastructure Manager, Waliul Islam, discusses how partnering with Zensec helped LSST strengthen monitoring, improve cyber resilience, and support secure cloud transformation across its campuses.

CHALLENGE

Securing a rapidly evolving education environment

As LSST expanded its digital services and migrated infrastructure to the cloud, cyber security became increasingly critical. The internal IT team recognised they needed more than traditional managed IT support and began exploring a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) to strengthen protection and monitoring.

With thousands of students and staff relying on always-on access to learning systems, LSST required real-time threat detection, improved visibility, and a more proactive approach to cyber defence.

SOLUTION

Introducing modern monitoring and threat detection at scale

Zensec worked closely with LSST to implement a layered security approach, combining advanced tools with hands-on engineering support.

A team of seven to eight Zensec engineers attended on-site to assess the network, analyse infrastructure, and support a smooth onboarding process. Enhancements included the deployment of Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and Extended Detection & Response (XDR), alongside improvements to firewall configuration and VLAN segmentation.

Zensec’s UK-based SOC now monitors LSST’s environment 24/7, providing real-time alerting and continuous oversight across the organisation’s systems.

This marked a major step forward in security maturity as LSST moved further into the cloud and increased its digital exposure.

“With 24/7 monitoring and a smooth onboarding process, Zensec has significantly strengthened our security and visibility. I would highly recommend them to any educational organisation.”
